To the Centre, one of
the most characteristic of the Viterbese Tuscia, you acceed
through the only gate (Porta Romana) opening in the town-wall.The
scenography designed by the narrow spaces faced by the stone-walled
house, often preceded by profferli (external stairs), has
no comparison. The Palazzo Comunale, the spindle-shaped fountain,
the former convent of S. Agnese, the church of Santa Maria
Assunta are the reference-points of a walk into the Middle
Ages, which takes advantage of the insuperable Belvedere at
the end of the Via S. Maria.
