In 1206, Innocent III donated to the town of Vetralla a vast extension of woods on Monte Fogliano, claimed as well by the city of Viterbo. From this event originates the annual feast of the Sposalizio dell'albero (marriage of th tree), during which the Mayor of Vetralla reaffirms its rights of possession on Monte Fogliano.
