The Eremo di San Bonaventura
has been created in a cave near the Belvedere, from where
you can admire the beautiful view on Civita di Bagnoregio.
There are the remains of an ancient convent, where St. Hildebrand,
better known as St. Bonaventura, received his first education.
Bagnoregio and its suburbs were disgregated by the violent
earthquake of 1695. What remains today are the villages of
Bagnoregio ( formerly Rota), Lubrata (formerly Mercato) and
Civita di Bagnoregio, which had been the most important of
the three.
